Curtain walls differ from storefront systems, because they are designed to span multiple floors. Curtain walls have to take into consideration design requirements such as thermal efficiency for cost-effective heating, cooling, and lighting, thermal expansion and contraction, building sway and movement, and water diversion. When glass is used as the curtain wall, one of the great advantages is that natural light can penetrate deeper within the building.
